Sabina Bye
Sabina Bye began painting landscapes and seascapes in oil over 30 years ago, and only dabbled at watercolor and pastel. It was not until she retired and moved to Minden, Nevada that she got serious with pastels and was encouraged by winning several awards in the medium. She loves creating miniature landscapes of local scenes and especially enjoys painting portraits.
Sabina and her husband, Al, are both Orange County, California retirees and enjoy living in Carson Valley. “We love it here because Northern Nevada offers so much in the way of community, arts and never-ending sources of subject matter.”
Bye is active in the Carson Valley Art Association, the Nevada Artists Association and the Tahoe Art League. Her work is exhibited at the Brewery Arts Center Gallery in Carson City, Western Nevada College on Buckeye in Minden and at exhibits in Carson Valley and South Lake Tahoe.
Sabina creates her work using several mediums and has won many awards for her work in pastels – especially her miniature paintings of Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe. She especially enjoys painting portraits and paints portraits on commission. Bye is also well known for her pet portraits in pastel that capture the personality of the animal – the coy look in the eye, the mischievous nature. Her pet portraits are widely collected.
Bye is active in the Carson Valley Art Association, the Nevada Artists Association and the Tahoe Art League. Her work is frequently exhibited at the Brewery Arts Center Gallery in Carson City.
